Atheros Wireless Card Not Working!

I just installed windows 7, was a completely fresh installation. I wiped the harddrive, installed the OS and for the most part it went well. I did run into one issue. All drivers installed correctly except the one for my wireless card. In device manager it shows up as properly installed (no yellow triangles). I've already tried a manual install of the driver downloaded directly from toshiba. I've tried windows xp and vista drivers for the same card to see if they would work, but to no avail.

The wireless card is an Atheros AR5007EG
My system information is as follows:

Manufacterer: Toshiba
Model: Satellite L305-S5875
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual T2390 @1.86, 1.87 GHz
Memory: 3.0 GB
Hard Disk: 200 GB

*note: my ethernet connection does work. I've tried the windows troubleshooter for my wireless card, but it didn't really help. I've also uninstalled the driver for the wireless card and restarted multiple times to let windows re-install it, but my wireless internet still doesn't work. It displays "no connections available" but my card is enabled with full bars, and appears to be functioning properly. Any ideas?

Other than the fact that my processor is AMD, I have the same system and the Atheros 5700EG. I can connect, but I cannot automatically reconnect. Each time I turn on the machine or I logon, I must reconnect manually. What a pain. What is your driver version?

I suspect that there may be a driver problem and that it is worse in your case. Rarely, but it does happen, my first attempt at connection fails as you described, but repeated retries seems to be successful. I noticed that instead of left clicking and trying to connect, right clicking and going to the full network center for connection works almost flawlessly.

As mentioned, i've already downloaded the driver from toshiba and tried to install... no effect. I don't even have the capability to connect to a wireless network - it doesn't recognize any. I'm not sure what else I could possibly do. I may have to go back to vista, unfortunately

Are your FN shortcuts working?

yeah, everything works, including the FN keys. I also have full media control (media keys working as well)

I have a Futjitsu Siemens and after happily installing Windows 7, I also have a non working network card. Any ideas on how to fix this issue. I heard installing older drivers might help, but Windows 7 is not letting me.

well, I no longer have the toshiba. The POS fried its motherboard under normal usage. I suspect it was just a really unhappy laptop. In any case, I was eventually able to get the wireless working (before the motherboard incident of course). What did it take?

A clean re-install of seven. Full hard-drive wipe and custom install. After the fresh install, it found all of its drivers automatically. I have no explanation for why it works, it just did. Prior, I tried everything - older drivers, new drivers, windows update - EVERYTHING. Nothing worked until re-installation.

My suggestion: wipe it. re-install seven, should work perfectly. Just make sure to back up all of your important data first
