Unable to log back into Account on Work Domain after changing name.

I screwed something up and I feel stupid. I am pretty computer literate so I'd rather not call the IT guy about this.

I am on my work PC, and this morning decided to change my user name (it's still the same name as the old guy that used this PC.)

I am logged into a work network and when I changed it, logged of, and tried to log back in, the sign in screen looked different but I was still able to log back into the same user profile with the new name. However, I figured to be safe, I better just change things back to the way they were. That was my mistake...

I tried to go back to the old username. But it created a whole new user profile, like a blank one. I can still access the original username in windows explorer to access all my files, but I am not longer connected to the work network.

I know all of the network credentials and passwords, I just don't know how to get back my old account!?!?

I know I probably left out some information, thank you in advance!

EDIT: When I go into Manage User Accounts, I added a new account with the same name as the previous one, but on login screen only showing the one AFritts account screenshot below.

    Well:

    1. Domain accounts must be added to the domain (AD DS) by the administrator at the server. You can't just make a new user that connects to the domain, without that user being added to the domain by the admin.

    2. You have 2 different domains there: STEVEN-S and FISH. Which one is the actual domain name?

What you did was add a new user to the local machine, which has nothing to do with the domain.

Call your admin and s/he can fix this in no time. It's not really a big issue. You cannot fix this yourself, you can remove the new local user, but it's best if you let the admin handle this.

I believe FISH is the correct domain. I blanked out some of the name for anonymity purposes, but let's just call it FISH.com. OK, I guess I will have to give admin a call. Thank you for the help!

See if you can change the "STEVEN-S" domain to the "FISH" domain. If you did not change much, you should be able to still use the old one, it's just that right now it belongs to "STEVEN-S" domain, which is not your work domain.

In properties there is no option to change the DOMAIN, the odd thing is I have these two accounts listed, but at the logon screen only one account is present.

    OK, Progress-

I logged out, and on the logon screen selected "Switch User" Which allowed me to log into the STEVEN-S\AFritts...

This brought me back into my user account that I could not previously get into - So that is great news. The problem I have now, is I am not mapped to my network drives, because my user name is now AFritts, and not SK*** (the previous name I changed it from.)

    EDIT: **SOLVED**!!

Once I was back into my account, I went to User Accounts>Manage User Accounts>selects AFritts>Properties, and simply changed it back to SK***

I deleted the dummy account I had made in an attempt to fix the problem, and I am hoping on the next login the login screen will be reverted to normal (Instead of having to enter S-Kabbes\SK*** in addition to my password everytime).

    Thanks.

Is this under the Local Users and Group snap-in in the Computer Management?

P.S. great, glad you have it working :)

I just went to Control Panel>User Accounts>Manage User Accounts. I suppose it could be done from there as well.
