Changed wireless adapter in my laptop but cannot turn it on

Hi guys, I need a wireless adapter that supports 5Ghz.
I have an older laptop that has some issues, but the card in it works fine, so I swapped it into this laptop.

It installs fine, I updated the drivers etc, but it will not 'turn on'. When I troubleshoot it, the error is that it is currently turned off. The button to turn on and off my wireless doesn't do anything to change it, so although its plugged in exactly the same as my other, it's as if my wireless button is specially designed for original adapter only.

If it helps, on my other laptop, the wireless was switched on with a on off switch on the side of the laptop, rather than one of the F keys.

The adapter in my laptop is a: Ralink RT5390R
The one I tried to install is a: Intel Centrino advanced-n 6200
The laptop I am trying to install it on is a HP Pavilion G6

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
