Network slow to initalize?? PC hangs..

So its a fresh load on the machine, latest Intel 3945 wifi drivers. Hard drive is good without any bad sectors.

When I boot into windows everything but the network comes up and after a minute or so the 2 network icons pop up at the bottom than the PC is usable. Anything I click on prior to those icons coming up waits untill they come up to pop up.

Had avast installed, thought maybe it was the issue so its gone now, still the same.

Ive seen this on other machines rarely in the past but have no clue what causes it. Throw me some ideas to checkout to solve this. I did run systernals autorun.exe and removed anything that was messed up and missing on there.

Thanks in advance everyone!

When you say the machine hangs do you mean it hard locks so all you can do is power down? If so does another boot get the network to run? For how long?

I'm thinking if it's a had lock it could be a hardware issue.

Its not a hard lock. I can goto start, click on chrome, click on other stuff. But untill the network icons show at the bottom nothing will open. Once the network icons come up what I clicked on previously opens without issue.

I would look in Device Manager. Right click on the network device, click properties. Look for a check mark in "allow this device to be turned off to save power" or words to that effect. If checked, uncheck it.

Get CCleaner and scrub down that baby, registry and all; some AVs love to leave a lot of junk behind.

For any of those having issues in the future. The above solved it for me and I would have never thought to check this. Thanks!

PC slow, hangs after several hours of usage.
Ok so, this past week my computer started to get slow after being on for some random amount of time. It doesn't happen after I do anything, just during normal usage. Start menu items will take from 3 seconds up to a minute to launch. Performance is fairly normal: CPU usage could be 0-3% for...

Welcome screen hangs and very slow startup.
Is my old HDD causing the welcome screen to hang? Also, after the welcome screen, it takes about 2 minutes to load up all the applications. I checked the task manager and the CPU usage didn't go over 30% the whole time. Is my old HDD causing both these problems?
