    Hacking threat or not

I just got a Windows 7 message stating "Another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer. Contact your network administrator. More details are in the Windows System Event log." Never saw this one before and am curious if this is a hacking event or nothing at all. I'm the only one on my laptop and am totally clueless as to the possible ramifications. After an hour of searching I found the Windows Event log and couldn't translate a single sentence. I have no clue who might be my network administrator, me or my ISP which is Frontier Communications. Should I ignore this message or call Frontier?. I'm sure all of you here are more knowledgeable than anyone at Frontier. I certainly have more faith and trust in this forum than anyone there. Please advise and thanks in advance.

Are there any other computers on your network?

The message means that there are two computers with the same IP on your network. If this is a home network - you are the administrator :)

Tell us about your network - how you connect, how many computers are there, did you assign your IPs manually, etc.

Not a hacking attempt. Just an IP conflict. Another device on the network took the IP your laptop was using at the time. Just let Dhcp do its thing. All is well.
