    Wireless Connection dropping intermittently

Hello, I installed Windows 7 recently and I have only been able to get on the Internet for random amounts of time due to my wireless connection dropping.

    System Specs:
    HP A6720f
    Motherboard:M2N78-LA
    RAM: 6 GB
    HDD: 600 GB
Router: DLINK 655 N Router (set to mixed n and mixed g mode)
Wireless Adapter: Ralink USB Wireless Adapter b/g

    Any help would be nice.

Change to another channel on the router. If there are others close by using the same channel as you this problem can occur.

I tried that and that did not help. It keeps saying my Gateway is unreachable... but my laptop with windows xp pro still is on the internet, my bro's pc (Win Vista) is still on the network. I like windows seven and all but this is getting ridiculous. I can't even get new updates without the wireless dropping and half the updates are not finished downloading.

I have had the same problem as you. I have noticed that my wireless connection works fine when my laptop is plugged into the mains. If I unplug it to run just on the battery the wireless connection comes and goes and we get the problem again.

    I am confused!

    How could this be possible???

    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks.

hi i'm getting exactly the same thing.

tried it with two routers (both netgears though) a WPN824 and a WNR2000.

it will work fine for between 20 seconds and a couple of hours.

i can norally get it to drop the connection, by starting off a big download and making the connection. it will drop to "limited or no connectivity" with the yellow ! in the wireless signal in the taskbar.

from this point i am unable to connect to my access point or if i drop the connection and try to get ti back it just doesn;t connect any more.

this is using a hp tx2000 also with a broadcom wireless adapter.
    a "broadcom 4321AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n WIFI adapter"
    according to device manager

maybe take a look around at your power settings which might be switching the wireless adapter off ?

It could also just be bad drivers as I personally reckon the manufacturers have yet to catch up with writing decent drivers for their hardware running on windows 7

where would i find these power settings for my wireless adapter? Device manager right? and even if i use the Ralink wireless driver that shows up in Windows Update, it still does the same thing.. so its like beating a dead horse still.

Go to Device Manager to the Network Adapters area, and then right click on your wireless adapter. It should be under power settings tab.
