    Laptop as FileServer

    Hello guys!!!

What did you think about a laptop as File server?

In my case I've Intel Core2Duo - 4GB Ram - 500GB HDD with Windows 7 ultimate x64 running as file server, is quiet and consume low energy (less $).

I've options for more space like a SD card or USB HDD.

    Tell us your experience

I don't think it's a bad idea, but never did it on my own.
File servers only need little processing power, they use mostly disk space and network bandwidth, so that specs should suffice moderate activity. Appart from the specs, being a laptop in itself makes no difference between a normal computer, other than the physical form.
What would be the normal use for this server? Home? Internet? Something else?

For home use then anything will do fine as a file server, as long as it's properly configured.
The only real need could be to add more storage space if current runs out, but it can be easily done with external HDs. I would go that route and only think in an upgrade if it ever causes any problems.
