    Auto Logon

    A curiosity question:

I have been remoting into workstations to configure the Auto Logon. I follow the instructions with no issues, perform a gpupdate /force and restart the workstations.

My dilemma: Sometimes it takes 2 to 3 times to "take".

Does anyone have an idea as to why it doesn't take the configuration the first time?

Okay, I found out why I wasn't getting the Auto Logon Configuration to be successful on all my computers. There is a 2 part process and they must be done in order. (I wasn't doing it in order on majority of the workstations).

    1. Netplwiz - Highlight "User of your choice" - Uncheck "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" - Click Apply - Another box pops up for you to put the User's password in - Click Ok (pop up box closes)- Click Ok
    2. Regedit - HLM - Software - Microsoft - Windows NT - Current Version - Winlogon - Here you will verify the DefaultUsername is ------, the DefaultDomain is the ----------and this is where (if not there) where you create DefaultPassword (RZ) and the Value Data is -----------

Hope this is helpful for someone.
