    Folder Lock problem

    hi
Can some tell me how to remove the lock icon from a users folder.
I know how to set folder share and security permissions with XP and Vista.
But after trying every setting i know Windows 7 has me beat.

I can access all computers on my network from the windows 7 machine.
But get error when trying to access windows 7 machine.
I know it is the lock icon that is causing the problem.

C:\Users\"name of user" has lock on it.
if i right click user name, and choose share with, the options are Nobody (which cannot be changed) Homegroup (Read) Homegroup (Read right) or Specific people.
If i choose specific and add everyone, it alters nothing the lock stays on.

    Please help
    Thanks

The lock icon means that not all users have access to that file/folder. I haven't tried to remove the lock icon, because I don't care about it, but if you add the users group and give it read/write access, the lock should disappear. However, unless you want everyone on your computer to have access to your files, I'd leave that alone.

The default behavior of user's folders hasn't changed since XP. Those folders have never been available to all users. It's just that Windows 7 now identifies those folders with a little lock icon.

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply

Have done all of above already, but the Lock icon stays there (even if i add "everyone" with full permissions.
