Ethernet connection to internet stops every night between 8pm & 1am
I have a strange problem that has me stumped, over the last month my ethernet connection to the internet drops every night between 8pm and 1pm, it either stops completely or works for a few seconds and then disconnects or I get a connection so slow that it's unusable. Other devices connected wirelessly to the router work fine. During the day time ethernet works fine.
I've tried booting in safe mode with networking which sometimes works, I've tried rebooting the router after turning everything off, unplugging phone line etc and waiting 30 secs. I've uninstalled network adapter card (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller) and reinstalled, updated drivers etc, deep scanned for viruses. Removed any new software added in the last month and contacted ISP who reports that my connection is normal. I've also unticked the box 'Allow computer to turn off this device to save power' on the network adapter.
Modem/router is downstairs, pc upstairs and I've been using On Networks Powerline 200 Home Network Adapters to route the ethernet through the power outlet for the last year without any probs and haven't changed anything recently.
When the connection drops sometimes the network icon shows it's disconnected, sometimes not. If I repair the connection I get various error messages at random "the default gateway is not available", "the connection between your access point, router or cable modem and the internet is broken" and sometimes just Windows cannot find any problems.
