W7 Wireless...Looks like I'm not the only one.

I'm installing W7 Ultimate on a fresh install.

    MB: Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe

I installed the updated drivers fine and I can now see the wireless node on my MB.

My problem is that it doesn't want to connect. I can see my router (D-Link DIR-628) with no problem but it won't let me connect to it.

Running the ethernet cable from my router works fine.

Please someone advise on what to do next.

No, you aren't alone. Plenty of people are having trouble with nForce ethernet and wireless connections. Have you checked out the nVidia forums? I found a possible fix for someone having trouble with the ethernet on an nForce 6xx motherboard over there - you might find someone having trouble as well, with a possible fix.

Windows 7 x64 and nForce ethernet - major issue currently unresolved - NVIDIA Forums

Obviously, that link isn't for your particular problem, but at least it'll point you to the correct forum.

Woah, I just noticed that under my Asus WiFi AP Solo software that I got with the new drivers that my IP Address is at 0.0.0.0 and subnet is 0.0.0.0

How again do I set those in W7? There is a refresh button there but it just flashes once and stays the same.

    Maybe this is an issue.

Open a command prompt (win+r, type "cmd") and type ipconfig /all. What does that tell you?

Check that encryption settings match (WPA2 w/ AES, WPA w/ TKIP, WEP) and passkey is correct.

Temporarily remove security from router if you need to test.

    Says:

    IPv4: 192.168.0.192
    sub: 255.255.255.0
    default: 192.168.0.1
    DHCP: same

DO I need to reboot the router?

No - you have a perfect connection. Windows has everything it needs to operate. It looks like the Asus WiFi AP Solo software has problems detecting the connection. That, or it's looking at a different, non-enabled connection. I'd contact Asus or go to the Asus website and see if there is a support forum you can access - most likely someone else has experienced this issue and may have posted a solution.

    Hey all.

Just wanted to let you know that I figured it out.

Just to be clear, if you have the M2N32-SLI Deluxe with Nvidia nForce 590 chipset, DON'T Download the Asus WiFi-AP Solo driver update. It didn't work for me and now W7 won't even let me uninstall it.

I finally found the solution by downloading the Realtek RTL8187 Wireless LAN driver.

Also, one other thing I noticed. In searching for help with Windows 7 issues like this, BING wouldn't return anything useful. It was like, "Windows 7? There is nothing wrong with Windows 7."

I found this forum and the final solution on google.

    Thanks everyone for the help.

By the sounds of it, its a conflict with the windows and ASUS drivers, had that problem with mine.

Just to clarify, when I go to Realtek to get that driver, the only options are the RTL8185L, 8187B and 8187L, of which only the first 2 are listed as Win7 compatible. Which one should I download and install please?
