Ethernet to USB converter showing problems(no network connection)

Hello everyone, recently my broadband connection wire was struck my a lightning. It fried my motherboard, gpu and network adapter. The service center where I had given my laptop for repairing, didn't repair my network adapter. instead gave me a ethernet to USB converter.

Problem is when using the converter, my Internet connection suddenly drops and says "no Internet access". When I try to reconnect the USB, it tries to identify the connection but can't. The problem is solved on restarting the laptop.

In your device manger does it show two network adapters or one with the usb one plugged it? Also they really should have replaced your motherboard as something else might be be wrong with it. I would recommend you get a surge protector that the ethernet cable goes through for the future.

Also check to see if it's in Universal Serial Bus Devices at the bottom.

This is what I got in the device manager.

I never though a lighting could pass through the ethernet cable in the first place. Been really unlucky. I will get a surge protector.
