Well, not sure if relevant:
- Can you reach the other devices by ip address?
- You seem to have a HOME dns suffix, I don't use homegroup so not sure if that would be right
go into local area connection-properties-tcp/ip v4-advanced-dns
check the options, remove "home" if it is there and re-try to set up your network to home

Just guesses here, hope this helps

Have gone in to those settings that you described but there is no "home" option to delete or rename. This is really driving me nuts so any ideas or guesses wild or otherwise are appreciated. Can anyone tell me if they think it could be solved by re installing windows? I have an OEM version that came with the computer but am thinking I may re install using the backup discs I created when I first got the computer. Would re installing windows renew all the "networking connections on the computer???
Let me know what you all think

Run regedit and browse to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters

see on right SearchList, double click and note the value down then delete the value (if there is one).
