Problems with file sharing between 7 - xp and vista

    Good morning,

I have a problem for a while now and final know what the cause is but not the solution (yet )

So, I have a windows 7 PC with a shared folder, I can access this from my Win xp without any problems.
But when the Win Vista access the same folder (think it is even any folder on the seven machine) the xp got thrown of the share (I can't access any files any more on the seven machine).
Then it takes a while (20 minutes plus) before the xp can access the 7 machine again.

Any ideas what can be the problem ?

    Kind regards,

You might have it set to share to only one user at a time max. Make it 2 if this is the case.

'Limit the number of simultaneous users to' is set to 20. This is a setting for a specified shared folder.

But is there maybe a general setting for this as well since the xp machine can't acces the root of the 7 pc (with root I mean '\\computerName\'). It isn't only the one folder he can't access any more.

Btw, they both log in with the same user, since I only have one user on the seven machine but I suppose this isn't a the problem ?

I just thought about it for a few minutes and the only thing that I can think of that could cause this, other than my last post, is something to do with group policy.

You could type "group policy" in the start menu search box and look. Where? I do not know.

I'd say update all network drivers on all machines and look into a router firmware update.

Also, in the router, can't hurt to try turning off multicast streams or disable. (...but this is not going to help....had to mention though just in case. Computers are weird...could be anything.)
