Windows 7: Windows freezes saving file over network

Because the card does not work in Safe Mode with Network, it is not likely a virus or anything blocking it. We can "try" to help you here, but without either having the same problem or device, it could be tough or impossible. One thing I was hoping you would pickup on with the Asus support page was the very last item:

If this article does not help you fix the problem, please email our support team for further ../images/troubleshoot/troubleshooting; make sure to describe the symptom in detail:
Runtime Error

Here at this link, you can ask for email technical support. Since they actually make the notebook and are familiar with the hardware and previous issues, they very likely may be able to help you directly. Even while people are helping you here, you could have that support ticket generated and have real help on the way. I cannot think of anything else at this moment, but I for sure would be taking this step to get help from Asus.

Not giving up, just giving you a gentle push in the right direction at this time. This is a serious issue. Good luck!

First of all, thank you for the time you all spent for my question!
I finally managed to get my problem solved... I considered Ohmster's suggestion but since my laptop is a bit old I thought Asus would not support me anymore.
So, I tried a last possible solution: find a different Ethernet card driver from somewehere.
I uninstalled Ethernet card, turned off automatic driver installation and used an older driver version for my network card.
I search through Internet and found a compatible but older driver for my Atheros L1 Gigabit and after I installed it, it worked again...!

Thank you

Karina

Drivers! Good job, girl!

I thought I suggested it to you but it was another network post I replied to, similar situation. With network cards, there are only a few things that cause them to fail. The #1 issue is drivers. The other issue is bad card, but not as common as drivers. The cards are cheap, companies do not want to write new drivers for them unless they have to. Sometimes even they recycle older drivers instead of writing new ones. Windows can often find you good, working drivers but not always. The ones Windows can pick are generic and sometimes you just need original ones.

Good job, glad to see you tackled it and got it solved!
