    crash now no wi fi

hi guys hope someone can help with this big prob for me, i had a power failure which according to the event log was critical and when it powered up again i have no wi fi in the device manager there is no wi fi hardware its disappeared, i tried system restore but it flags up there are no restore points i have tried to restore in safe mode with the same response, it would be difficult for me to use a cable so hopefully someone will have a fix for me, thanks, steve

Load defaults in BIOS (either first screen or exit menu), it is the setup menu when you first start the PC.

Boot with a Linux Mint MATE DVD/USB and see if it works there, report back.

Save and exit after loading optimized defaults then if it doesn't correct the issue:

See Emergency Kit - save your files from a dead OS

Don't get confused by the name of tutorial, you will only use it to see if adapter is working with it. After making the bootable USB just boot with it, no install required.

hi, since my last post i have tried something else which should perhaps shed more light on my prob for those who know about win7 [hopefully anyway] i came across a wifi dongle which i installed but with no luck so i installed it on another pc also running win7 with success this time so uninstalled and reinstalled with the intention of replicating each move with the dud machine to see where the breakdown was occurring loaded cd clicked on setup checked a few boxes and it loaded up on completion checked devices and there it was done the same with the dud machine same sort of thing but on completion checked devices no adaptor so is it swimming around somewhere on the pc or what hope this highlights my prob a bit, thanks for any help

    try this

Got a restore point prior to the power failure?
If you have, try that, and if it still doesn't work, in Device manager are thier any unknown devices.
