File transfer LAN or Ethernet

Just curious, im transfering files from one of my PC's to another PC

what would be the best solution

PC ------ PC (via Cat6 LAN cable)

or

PC -- modem -- PC (via home network)

thanks;

Hooking it up with just a LAN cable, I believe that you'll require a crossover cable to make that work.

It's just as easy and fast to go through your home network. And less hassle, too.

thanks for that input I just figured since its a Direct connection it would be quicker then going through the modem to the destination

No, the speed will be about the same, and it's a real hassle setting up a direct connection without a network switch of some kind. Better and easier to go through your home LAN.
