WiFi connectivity failures on startup

I have a similar problem with my Dell Optiplex desktop with Windows 7 pro 64 bit. I get a variety of WiFi connectivity failures on startup. By running seemingly random fixes I can connect, but it is a real pain every time I start up. Sometimes the error is "no network connection available. Troubleshooter gives a variety of prompts. Sometimes it is "a network cable is disconnected (I don't use ethernet, only wifi.) Sometimes it suggests my router is out of range (it's 10 feet away and never moves, my laptop and phone connect from 100' with no problem.) By using a combination of disconnecting and reconnecting my Belkin antenna either manually or through device manager, running troubleshooter, hitting reset button on gateway, turning off Avira antivirus and swearing at the screen I get connected. I'm an old man and this is all magic to me, but I get the feeling some protocols are occurring out of order and hanging things up. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Windows usually does a fine job of connecting to Wireless Access Points on its own. For some reason, Dell, HP and other manufacturers feel the need to add bloatware that tries to manage the wireless connections.

You might not have the exact Dell tool mentioned in this link...
