    Can't download anything with IE11 win7

    Hello everyone,

I am facing this nasty problem that IE11 on Win7 can't download anything. I tried to download malwarebytes, but it gives a return "Unable to download". This goes with anything else for downloading. I use AVG, and disabled Firewall and all other components, to no avail. I used USB drive to get the latest malwarebytes from other machine and run it, with no threats found, otherwise clean. I restored the system to 19th of June to make sure it skips the trouble, but this also didn't correct it. I followed the advice from this link, IE9 won't download files but the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" checkbox is already unchecked from the beginning in my case, yet this trouble still persists. I wonder if anyone still have some more idea, please.

    Thanks,

    Rob

Thank you for the reply. I did just as you said, but the same error message persists as, "unable to download mbam-setup..."

Have you tried to download another file from another web site? I would try that to make sure it isn't something with Malwarebytes site. Other than that, I really don't know.

Robwin just as a try disable the AVG - in fact I think it is a crap software but that is just me personally - and try again

Now you could also try these in safe mode

    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2 >in safe mode if need be

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Disabling AVG rarely works it must be uninstalled,
Go to uninstall a program and uninstall AVG
Then run the uninstall utility as well after,
Download tools and utilities | AVG Worldwide

Then download and install MSE for testing,
Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

Use Safe mode with networking if need be,
    Safe mode with networking,
Shut down your machine, Unplug-Hold the power button downfor 30/45 seconds (Power Drain)
Power up and Tap the F8 key continuously until you see ablack page with white text,
Use the down arrow key to toggle to safe mode withnetworking/ hit the enter key.
    Login as usual

    Other advanced methods,
    Safe Mode

Advanced startup options (including safe mode) - Windows Help

After the above reset ie11 as posted in post #2

    If still no joy
    Use Clean boot,
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Click Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
    Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
    Cheers.

I am still trying to get this "sfc scannow" right which is giving me a headache. I have not used it before. And now it tells me that, "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log." There again, I am trying to figure out how to solve this at the moment.

As soon as I finished this, I will attempt what ThrashZone has advised above. Many thanks to you for all the inputs. I will let you know of the results.

I ran it three times. The same error shows up, "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log."

Thank you again. Next, I will try your first suggestion.
