Sharing a printer does not inherit settings?

I have shared a printer from Windows 7 with certain settings. Like, say, forced black&white printing. When I connect to this printer and try to print, it doesn't care a single bit about those settings I've set there. I pretty much need to have the settings inherited, otherwise I'm going thru 10+ computers setting every single one separately for 10-20 different setting arrays.

Just to elaborate on this, where is printer being shared from. Is this on a sort of print server? If not, then the only thing you'll be sharing out is the printer itself. Those settings are profile specific & will only apply to the user, not the printer itself.

Is this printer a network printer, or one connected through USB?
