Internet stops working after few minutes of surfing

Hallo,

I have a Toshiba Equium A200 Laptop with Windows 7 32-bit. I’ve been using an MTN Internet USB Modem on it for a year now.

Two months ago my webpages stopped loading (on Google Chrome, Firefox, all of them) The USB would be connected, with a good connection, but after 2-3 minutes of surfing, my webpages simply won’t load anymore, unless I do a restart, whereby I would just repeat the process.

I’ve contacted my ISP, it’s not their fault. I’ve re-installed all the drivers required, re-installed the USB modem, I uninstalled and re-installed all my webbrowers.

The USB modem works fine on all other computers. Other USB modems suffer the same problem on my Laptop, THUS, the problem lies somewhere on my laptop.

Is there a setting somewhere I should change? A port setting, or something in the Registry Editor perhaps? Should I re-install Windows 7?

I really want to fix it myself, before turning it over to the tech guys, they are VERY expensive where I stay.

Your help is kindly appreciated!

See if this helps:
- Create a manual System Restore point - System Restore
- Remove modem and uninstall its drivers
- Restart PC
- Run DriveCleanup as admin - Drive Tools for Windows
- Restart PC
- Scan files and registry with CCleaner free
- Restart PC
- Re-install and try the problem devices now
- If you see any issues with your current working devices, restore to the Restore point/or image backup you have made.

** DriveCleanup is supposed to remove any and all drivers for unattached devices, so you will see them re-install upon attaching.

The following advice from another forum seems to have worked:

Turn off power saving settings for USB hubs/ports from device manager and see if that corrects matters. I've had Windows do stupid crap with USB power settings before that would constantly disconnect my mouse.Turn off power saving settings for USB hubs/ports from device manager and see if that corrects matters. Track pad on stops working about 2-3 minutes after starting Windows 7
I have a Sony VAIO VPCEH. The track pad works upon bootup for about 2-3 minutes after Windows starts. It then abruptly stops working. I've already tried disabling everything in the startup menu. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? If so, how was it resolved?
