    Home Network Broken after BSOD

2 PCs running Windows 7, wired connections.
Home network was working fine. Same Workgroup. In Homegroup, but settings say Homegroup isn't used.
    Things worked fine.
Last week, PC2 had a BSOD. Since then, both computers only see themselves in the network.
File Sharing is on. There are shared folders. Network discovery is on. I made no changes. Just the BSOD.

Can't see other pc in file explorer.
The only place where the pcs will show the other one is in Network and Sharing Center\See full map.
When I booted PC2 in Safe Mode with Networking, it did show PC1 in the explorer (though, not itself).
In Network and Sharing Center, PC1 connects to "Network 5", while PC2 shows "Network 3"
IP addresses are different. one ends in .2, the other ends in .169.

I have tried many things. no progress.
flushing the dns, restarting, power-cycling modem/router, attempting to disconnect/reconnect the network/homegroup. PC2 did not have a restore point available.
    I'm out of ideas.
    Please help.

IP ending in 169? I'll bet the other 3 octets are far from similar also! Your computer is not getting assigned a valid IP. Let's keep this simple. Are there any lights on at the port where the cable plugs into the router and at the computer? If not your cable is likely bad. If there are lights, make sure DHCP is enabled on the computer. Post a screenshot op IPCONFIG here if you are not sure.

I can't see the lights. This is a new model modem for Verizon Fios. Stupidly, all the lights and useful things are in the back. And it's wedged in-place. Is it possible for the cable to just suddenly go bad?
PC2 still connects to the internet, and the PS3 just fine. PC2 IP is 192.168.1.169 (the same as PC1, except the last piece).
I'll try to access the back of the modem. Please post any other ideas. Thank you.

Have you looked to see if the lights are on at the network connector on your PC? If no lights, cable is first thing suspect. There should be a way for you to get to the back of the modem, maybe one screw to remove a cover? Cables are the simplest thing to eliminate from the equation.
PC1 is what ip? 169.254.73.??, something just crazy right? If you have no light on the PC1 network card/port where the cable goes in, get the cable first. There should also be extra ports on the modem, so try different port there.
