Advice on a Modem and Router will be appreciated
Hi
I hope somebody may be able to help me with my modem and router setup?
I have EE broadband which uses ADSL2 (I think?) but instead of using the modem/router given to me by EE I decided to use a separate router and modem.
I chose to do this because I found although the modem/router given to me by EE is decent it regularly cuts out and loses connection to the internet and my devices in the house, I thought it may have been a faulty unit but realised that they are just poorly built as a replacement done exactly the same thing.
I then bought a ASUS RT-AC66U router and a D-Link DSL 320b Modem. I chose separate devices because there is lots of tech connected to my home network (2 Macs, Ipad, PC, Playstation, Xbox and phones) so thought the router will be better able to deal with the network traffic and streaming etc, not sure if that logic makes sense though lol.
I have had this setup for a while now and was wondering if anybody can advise me on a better performing Modem to use as I lose 1MB on my line speed compared to the EE modem/router (instead of 14MB on EE router/modem which always cuts out, I get 13 with my current ASUS/D-LINK setup).
I know the D-Link modem I now use is really old so was hoping somebody can suggest a good rated/performing modem I can use with my ASUS RT-AC66U that will hopefully help me get the maximum speed out of my line.
Thanks :)
