Connection problem to Windows 7 share

Sorry if there is a thread already for this issue.

I am hosting a large raid-5 array as NAS on a clean install of Windows7 x64. When playing a video stored on the NAS the video freeze often but sporadically. If I ping the hosting computer I consistently see a loss of 7% of total packets. I do the reverse, ping the connecting computer from the machine hosting the NAS I see 0% dropped packets.

I have tried different routers, network cards and ports in the house but all have the same results

Machine specs:
Supermicro MBD-C2SEA-O
E4500
4 GB DDR3
Raid -1 2 x 250 Windows 7 x64 installed
Raid -5 8 x 1.5 TB

HomeGroup listener and provider are not started so my guess would be it is not running.

HG listener and provider might be set to manual which only activates as needed. For more than one computer on your lan you either have to be running homegroup, or workgroup. If you are running homegroup you can make you connection more reliable by chinging to owrkgroup, and you can disable IPv6 which causes all sorts of random slowness and disconnects. IPv6 is located in netwrok and sharing.

Hope this helps

All the Windows 7 machines on the network are set was Workgroup. I have disable IPv6 on the x64 system being used as the server. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the help

I am watching a 720p file over the network with no pause, stutter or dropped packets. Looks like disabling IPv6 did the trick.
