Strange message re deleting from Outlook

My ex contacted me and said her Outlook account was in some sort of disarray mainly that she cannot delete sent messages and ends up with this message "Could not select deleted items on the IMAP server try updating the folder and try again"

Now I instructed her on how to delete single and multiple messages but the above message always comes up.

Now I am not really that well up on mail settings and because she works for some health organisation I am of the idea that it needs someone from her IT dept to fix this up thinking it probably requires admin rights.

I have done a few Googles but am none the wiser because the more I read the more I am getting confused by the minute. Plus not being in front of the machine makes it doubly awkward.

Anyone with any ideas on a fix please??

MS is making changes to Outlook accounts now, and it can cause issues for WLM.
See this thread, and have the ex check in Browser Web Mail to see if the account is Outlook.com or Outlook Mail (post #5).
Windows Live Mail 2012 requires an update to keep using it

You never know what a change like this might affect !
