Cannot connect to internet wirelessly w/ Windows7

I just purchased an Acer notebook with Windows 7. I am unable to connect to the internet wirelessly, but can if use an ethernet cable. I spent hours on the phone with Comcast Cable, but they say it is not their problem, since I can connect via hard-wire.

I put in my security wep code and it accepts it, but then says unable to connect. Then the computer will show that I am connected to Comcast, but with limited or no connectivity.

Do you think there is a problem with the wireless router in my computer? Should I try downloading the wireless LAN driver from Acer? I am not very computer literate, and a part of me just wants to return this to the store and get a different manufacturer's computer.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Its more than likely a configuration issue with your wireless modem. Comcast should have walked you thru a basic setup.

Try this page, you may need to complete: Configuring the Access Control List
    Welcome to Comcast customerCentral!

Hopefully another comcast member can post some other tips and info. I have a different ISP and tried to get the info from Comcast's site.

Hi and welcome to seven forums

If you can connect via wired ethernet the problem is on your side of the equation. first thing to do is to try to connect without WEP. no password. if yes its wep, if no its configuartion.
Now we really could use your netwroking setup. whay router, wifi cards, etc

finally we need you to type cmd in search>type ipconfig /all. make a screen shot and upload it to use.
