Can you post a link to a website you can`t get to, well not a link obviously LOL
As it was a while ago and it's now.. not a problem anymore.. I can only recall one site as I wanted it.. Avasts website, and I found by googling that changing the DNS fixed most peoples issue.

You can try using Device Manager to remove the device and letting Windows install it again...

...then set the static IP info again.

Well I just tried, but I had to download the drivers from ASUS website (as Windows didn't want to auto detect) and the problem persists.

Locate the network interface of interest under this key structure:

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\
Manually add the desired IP address to the value named DefaultGateway.

Use the regular Graphical User Interface to set the values that you see here:

Then look in the registry for a network adapter that has this value set to zero:

No internet with custom IP-dhcp.png

That is probably the network interface of interest :-)

According to posts #3 and #4, the router is using the 192.168.1.xxx subnet. When the OP lets the computer be automatically configured via DHCP, the gateway is 192.168.1.1 and the computer has access to the internet. There are plenty of routers that use 192.168.1.xxx by default. Most routers can be set to use any private IP address block:
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255

Took me a while to get that to work.. and putting my IP into default gateway worked... how does that make sense? Also I did try to put it on 192.168.0.1 just for fun and.. well.. then nothing worked at all. No internet, no network, no identifying.
