Windows 7: Cannot Share Win 7 Files With XP Computer

15 Nov 2009   #21

Windows 7

Like I said my head is still spinning and I will try and sort it all out tomorrow. Posting #15 by "iseeuu" led me to go back and open the folders that were listed in my Win 7 Network and then selecting each folder within it and Right clicking> Properties>Sharing Tab and then clicking on Share and addiing "Everyone" with Read/Write authority.

In the XP computers Win 7 currently does not show up; however, click on View Workgroup Computers and then I could see all 3 computers listed. Clicking on the Win 7 computer revealed the shared folders. However, the Users sub folders have to individually be be granted sharing authority as outlined above. This is most important in being able to share sub folders within the Users folder.

Again my hat is off to all of you for the great teamwork that led to my success!
