Unable to map drive to, or create folder on root of, SMBA drive.

I have a 2 TB HDD attached to my RT-n66u router. The drive is accessible through network neighborhood and I can even type "\\(name)" into explorer and it will open fine. The trouble is when I attempt to map it as a network drive. I get "Windows cannot access \\(name)".

In addition, when I am inside the drive I am unable to create any new folders at the root level, even though when the drive was hooked directly into my laptop I was able to create the folders at root fine.

I can't think of any network permissions I would need to set. If any one here knows of a setting I have missed your assistance would be most helpful.

This is a family computer running Windows 10 Home. It is running on the same workgroup as the network hdd.
