100Mbps switch crashing network

Hey, I have a 200Mbps internet connection, my laptop and CCTV are connected to a 100Mbps unmanaged switch, which obviously also goes back to the router. When I run a speed test with a live stream (local) of the CCTV running, the entire network crashes. WiFi and all. I guess I'm maxing out the switch?
I have ordered a gigabit switch so it's not really an issue, I just wander has anyone else come across this and maybe could explain whats actually going on?

Thanks
