Windows 7: Belkin Wireless Adapter not recognized

Belkin Wireless Adapter not recognized

I have Windows 10 and 7 on the same computer, as you could probably guess, I'm 'downgrading' from 10. I plug my wireless adapter into my computer running the brand new Windows 7 installation and it makes the 3-chime "dundundun" sound, which I think means there's an error. It shows up in the device manager under Other Devices as "802.11ac NIC" (or was it 802.11n?) with a /!\ on the icon. There's an ethernet listing right below it with the same icon. I've plugged it into all USB ports, 2.0 and 3.0. It's a Belkin F9L1108TG (F9L1108v1). I lost the CD that came with it and Realtek's website is down so I can't download drivers from them as I've read is necessary. Belkin's website does not supply the driver for this model. I don't have ethernet access to my router/modem from my computer (it's a desktop) so I can't run Windows Update or anything. I've downloaded multiple driver packages from third party websites on my W10 OS as a last resort, but they didn't work. I didn't have to go through this with my old W7 setup a long time ago. What do I do from here?

802.11n:

Usb\vid_050d&pid_110a&rev_0000
usb\vid_050d&pid_110a

(hmm didnt let me capitalize all of it)

The Ethernet Controller that shows up in W7 has the same hardware IDs as "Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)" in W10.

I get nothing on the wireless ID's, you can use this driver to get the ethernet working,

Those don't download an installer, you have to install them through device manager pointing it to the downloaded unzipped folder, using the browse my computer option.

You also have no specs listed, so I don't know what hardware or parts or anything you have, can you fill in your specs,

System Info - See Your System Specs

I would like to see this as well,

System Information File - Create in Windows

Option one. That will point out any problem devices, since this is a fresh install and no internet I assume there will be many.

Attached is a zip containing both W7 and W10 system information files. Thanks for the help on this btw, I got the Ethernet driver installed. I can't really test it, but it looks proper.

You're welcome, Thanks for filling in your specs and the the two files.

Most of the drivers you will need can be found here,

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-78LMT-S2P (rev. 5.x)

It looks to me like you need the chipset and audio drivers for both systems.

If you generated these files before installing the driver I linked that would explain why your ethernet driver is showing in problem devices on the win 7 system.

If not add the Atheros LAN driver to the list for win 7.

I don't see windows 10 drivers (Or even W8) other that the one you don't need.

I was hoping that once you had an internet connection it would find a driver for your Belkin which I'm guessing is what happened in W10?

Before this gets too confusing though, let's just focus on getting you connected to the internet in W7.

That's weird that Belkin lists it here but not a driver, and it won't bring a result with anything past the 1108 in the model number.

Looking at this wiki article, https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Belkin_F9L1108v1 it shows it being sold at Target which I found searching but I see it's not available anymore.

The interesting and hopefully solution is that it also says it's identical to this https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Belkin_F9L1101v2

Which Belkin lists a driver for,

Official Belkin Support Site | Belkin N600 DB wireless dual-band USB adapter, F9L1101 v2- Setup Driver

I unpacked the installer and it shows the same driver you have listed for it in W10 (rtlwlanu.sys)

So I think that is your best bet at this point, I have a good feeling it should work.
