Showoff!

Some of us live in the country where Mbps are hard to come by! Thankfully my sat service does 20Mbps down...3g is only 1.5 down at best, as is 1.5 at another DSL location.

I think some are now reaching 200-300Mb/s on Fibre to Consumer systems, Mine is Fibre to Cabinet and is rated as up-to 38Mb/s, and it normally hovers around 37.6Mb/s down and 10Mb/s, I could go for an Up-to 76Mb/s but am happy with this for now

It looks to me like I am stuck with what I have.It is not satisfactory but the owner is not going to spend more money for something that does not make him money. I won't mark this solved in case something comes up later.

12 mbps download speed, but programs take a long time to download
For some reason programs and files are taking a very long time to download (about 30 kbps), but youtube plays fine, I can go to any website and troubleshooting shows nothing wrong. I went to speedtest.net and I'm averaging about 12 mbps so files should be downloading fast. At this point I'm...

Wifi over Powerline - security - e.g. Devolo dLAN 500 Mbps WiFi
I am considering using a powerline system to give me additional wifi cover, but I am unclear how the available wifi connection is protected. They make a great deal of encrypting the traffic over the power circuit, but no mention is made of protecting the wifi connection. Surely, the risk with...

I'm not getting 300 mbps wireless speed.
My sister's laptop is able to get 300 mbps wireless connection from anywhere inside the house. But my computer is only able to get 120-150 mbps. Is it because of my network card? Router is Netgear N300.
