    Can't connect to homegroup

I have a wireless router with 2 PCs connected to it:
    1. A desktop connected via ethernet to the router. Also has the printer.
    2. A laptop connected wirelessly to the router.

This is at home. Both are running Windows 7 Ultimate x86, both have default settings. Both are configured as 'Home' and I've run the troubleshooting etc etc.

I've tried both creating the homegroup on the Desktop and on the Laptop, both times when try and join on the other machine I just get the message "There is currently no homegroup on the network"

I thought the homegroup was supposed to make file/printer sharing easier, not more difficult!

    Hi and welcome

Yes and No. If you have all win 7 machines homegroup works but not well. But there are some drawbacks to homegroup. First it relies on IPv6 which is buggy as heck.
What I would to is to change to work group and disable IPv6. In terms of the printer sometimes you have to install the printer locally so the drover is installed

Hope this helps and let us know if you need help

Thanks. I've managed to work it out. Both computers were called 'Rick-PC'. I renamed the laptop to 'Rick-Laptop' and now it all works fine. Doh!
