Just cannot get my LG home theater to always connect
This is a newer LG machine which has SmartShare.
I used to use Nero Media Home Essentials, but at bootup this would write to my HDD for 3 minutes, severely impacting use of the PC.
Uninstalled it, and now trying to get Windows' inbuilt DLNA server to work.
Because of cable routing problems I connect the PC to my ADSL modem via wifi. In Networking and Sharing Centre this is listed as a Home network, Access type Internet and is a Wireless Network Connection.
The ethernet port (which the hts connects to) is listed as Unidentified network, Work network (black, so I can't change it), Access type no Internet access, Local Area Connection.
(The PC, the HTS and the modem is my entire network.)
Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service is set to Autostart. (How should Properties -> Logon -> Logon as be set?)
The necessary folders have been shared.
In WMP, streaming is turned on -> Automatically allow devices to play my media.
If I go to Media streaming options, under Local network, the only device I see is Media programs on this PC and remote connections, Allowed. Under All networks, I see that as well as LG-HTS (the home theater), NIGEL-PC and Unknown device. All allowed.
In Windows Explorer -> Network -> Devices there are 2: NIGEL-PC with a green arrow, and NIGEL-PC: Nigel-PC with a film-strip and a blue quaver. (This this the media-server that the home theater sees.)
Yesterday I got the home theater to access the files on my PC. But I have since rebooted the PC, and now the home theater complained about access not allowed to the files.
Of course, it is now suddenly working. Although I do not see LG-HTS in Windows Explorer, probably because it is not part of the local network. Although I did see it yesterday.
But can you see anything above which would mean that I have to wait more than an hour every morning before I can access my media?
Unfortunately, organising a cable so that the hts can plug into the ADSL model is a major mission.
