    Where to Buy WiFi Card

The WiFi card in my 4-year-old HP laptop went out, and I'm looking for another one. Amazon says it will take until mid-May to arrive, and Best Buy wants $130 for it. Does anyone know a good place to get laptop components, cheap, fast, and trustworthy?

    The part number is 630703-001.

    Thanks!

Long deliveries are often the norm when looking for anything that is not for a current model laptop, You could try an internet search for "630703-001 alternative" and you may be fortunate enough to find something, but personally I would order th one you have found and use a cheap wireless dongle until it arrives, the dongle would be thaere as a spare if you had any other issues, and could even be an improvement over the card depending on the full specification :)

I'm not even sure I'd bother ordering the internal wifi card and just go with a USB dongle.

The dongle would be fine if the OP can spare the USB port. Keeping up with it would be a bit of a hassle, though.

Did you contact HP ? Always go to the manufacture for replacement parts.

Unless it's HP. They are quick to discontinue support for products.

I tried HP, but as Lady Fitzgerald said, they discontinued the part. All they wanted to do was charge me $50 for a computer scan when I'm already pretty sure what the problem is. Thought about a dongle temporarily, but am still deciding on whether I should sacrifice the $10 for the month it will take for the part to arrive, or just grab a spare cable and sit in the family computer room with my noisy siblings. Yeah, seriously considering the dongle. Don't want to use that solution permanently because I need all of my USB ports (only have 3, two of them are for my wireless mouse and headphones, and a hub would be a lot of hassle for my purposes).

I'll check out the link derekimo provided, and if there's nothing there I'll just order from Amazon and wait. Thanks, everyone! This site is always extremely helpful.
