How to access homegroup on Windows 7

Hi. Please could someone walk me through how to access the network homegroup from another computer.

The name of the homegroup is the default WORKGROUP
I input the name and the password on the other computer. Nothing. Cannot connect.

I have googled, and searched this forum, and come up with nothing that works.

I have gone to the Network and sharing centre and set the 'Turn on password protected sharing' to off on the instructions of some post. And back on. Makes no difference.

I am using ubuntu and I am following these instructions precisely:
