Sketchy Download speeds on windows 7

Well when ever i try to download something on my desktop, it starts out at 700kbps then the further it goes into the download i find that its at.... 2kbps. EVERY TIME!

i am using a great little usb wireless card. Its a planex GW-USMini2n

and for some reason win 7 just doesnt like it. I turned off the wireless card on my laptop and connected through the usb device and it works perfectly (the laptop has vista)

it so strange though, at one second its at 700 or more then goes down to 20 and below. I tried everything i could find and nothing...

turned off firewalls( both windows and my antivirus)
    reinstalled latest drivers.
turned off wireless router and computer, then booted them up again.
tried moving the wireless card closer and out of the way of cluster
    stopped IP helper
    and a few other things.

just wondering if anyone could spare some insight to help me out. this is killing me!!
brand new computer with terrible internet.....

its like having a brand new car with the tires stolen..

    thanks in advance.

    Hey.

You could post a screenshot of the advanced tab for the driver, by going to the device manager.

Maybe there's a setting we can figure out in there for it.

SFC isn't going to help at all. The screenshot I said above with driver settings might though.

I don't suppose you've contacted Planex for support? I noticed no Windows 7 drivers for your wifi device, and no mention of Windows 7 on the Planex website, so your hardware may not work at all under Windows 7. Have you tried downloading the Vista drivers for your device and installing them in compatibility mode?
