Network & Sharing Center stuck at "Identifying"

About a week ago I had to unplug and move my computer, and when I plugged it in after vacuuming out the case it was making a horrible sound. I thought I had a problem with my CPU cooling fan but it was my power supply cooling fan (of course I had already bought a replacement CPU fan) but when I started up the computer on Friday night to try to copy some stuff I needed, the computer wouldn't connect to the internet. I've always had it plugged straight into the modem with a cat 5 cable and I used the same cable, but when I opened the Network and Sharing Center it was stuck at "Identifying." I Googled for a solution, but with my power supply going out I don't really want to turn it on and start trying things....so my question is, should I just give up and buy a new computer? This one is six years old and has been on 24/7 for all of those years, so maybe moving it and stirring up all of the dust inside has finally killed it? The computer worked great until I decided to vacuum it out and I really like the case, but since I already need to replace the power supply and I know that there's a problem connecting to my home network should I just get a new one? (it would definitely be one with Win 7 and not 8 or 10). And if I do get another computer, is it pretty easy to connect my old hard drive to it?

Thanks for the fast reply and I'm sorry that I haven't replied back, but I had to move my computer because of mold behind the wallpaper in my bedroom and I had to move everything out to get rid of it, so for the past few days I've been busy painting, cleaning up, and starting to move everything back in. It's been a nightmare and the computer problems have been the frustrating icing on a horrible cake.

I ended up just buying a refurbished desktop with Windows 7 instead of fighting with my old computer. Now I get to fight with the new computer to try to get it to download and install all of the updates it needs. Microsoft really does need a SP2 for Win7, but they're not gonna do that.
