Reinstalled Win7 took out my wireless - Asus Teck laptop
I have noticed this is common and ai have reviewed at least two posts here related to this. Neither have helped, one simply being a link to an Intel diagnostic program.
Here's what I have done and observed:
- A steadily degrading function prompted me to reinstall preexisting Win7.
- A LAN cable plugged in works. Full Internet. Proved with a download. But wireless never even shows in tray.
- A yellow caution mark resides next to Network Controller in Device Manager. (And another next to Video Controller).
- After downloading every possible related driver from the Asus site and going through the Update Driver routine, rebooting, etc., no change.
- After pointing Update Driver to my Win7 CD, no joy. Unlike Win XP, apparently Win7 does not carry drivers.
- There is a switch on the top of the laptop that has a wireless signal printed next to it. Clicking the switch does nothing.
System configuration (as far as I know it):
Asus Tek computer laptop
CPU N455 1.66 GHz
OS is Win7 Pro 32 bit service pack 1
Sure could use some advice. Thanks!
