Windows 7 Prof. 64 bit UK.
With XP everything went fine.
Now Win 7 refuses to make contact with the internet:
Error 651: The Modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error
I cannot even activate, or get updates.
Google finds a lot of the same problem.
I managed to exchange the raspppoe.sys by a Vista one, but no result.
I made dual boot: With the same hardware, XP works and Win 7 not.
What to do?
A week ago, I updated my XP NIC driver, as suggested by the Windows Xp update.
NIC: Realtek RTL8168C
After that, I could not connect to the internet.
Then, by rolling back to the other driver, it worked fine again.
So, something with the Windows drivers is not ok.
In Win 7, I also changed the NIC drivers, nut to no result.
