Still can't connect Vista 32 to prtr on W7 64

Hi all! I have read as many posts as I could find and have tried all the solutions but still cannot get my Vista laptop to print through my W7 desktop.

I can see the desktop on the Vista machine and have setup all the correct sharing profiles. I know that what I'm doing works and have all the right settings because I successfully created a local port on my XP machine with the correct path to the W7 64 desktop and am able to print from the XP machine. Tried to create the same local port on the Vista laptop and continue to get the "Access Denied" message. Somehow either Vista or W7 is blocking my access which is strange since I was able to setup the XP 32 machine in the exact same manner and it worked. I am at a loss at this point.

Any thoughts or solutions others have found. I have perused as many posts as I can find and cannot find a way to define that port without being denied access.

    Thanks in advance

Hello ConradM, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums!

I had this experience printing with 7 computers. "Access Denied" is a networking permission issue. Either your Vista computer is preventing the access (protecting you) or the 7 computer is keeping the Vista from connecting. The reason your XP computer can connect is because it is less secure. My guess is the Vista computer is preventing access (I could be wrong).

The first place I would look is your Vista anti-virus and firewall. Try (if you haven't already) temporarily disabling both and check your access to the printer.

Next I would suggest you look at the Vista Network and Sharing settings and the Workgroup settings.

You should be able to go to your Local Workgroup in your Vista Network Places, see the 7 computer and the printer.

If you can attach some screen shots is helps.

    Cheers!
