Windows 7: Port Conflicts

Port Conflicts

I use my computer aboard a 47' Sailboat primarily for navigation and communications. As such, I run multiple external devices. To name a few:
WiFi Cards (2)
GPS
Pactor Modem
Iridium Satellite Phone
Verizon Aircard
Telcel Aircard

You get the picture. I was unable to accomplish a very simple task using VISTA, to wit, being online with my Verizon Aircard and using one of the WiFi cards to access my wireless printer.

I finally downgraded to Windows XP and this is never a problem anymore. A Verizon tech once gave me an explanation of why this couldn't be done in VISTA, but unfortunately the explanation went over my head.

Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed in Windows 7, or does that OS have similar problems as VISTA handling multiple communications devices operating simultaneously on different USB ports?

Thanks for the assistance.

Cheers,

RDR Hi and Welcome

I suspect if it was not working in vista, and there are less devices to use com ports now that MS wouldn't consider it a priority. Have you googled the question?

Sorry I couldnt help

In Vista, were you running an x64 platform? Also, if it was, was it Ultimate? WHQL drivers are required.
