why not download and install the software manually without hooking it up to the laptop?
Your error is a
driver error bsod
Since you did it this way, windows may have become confused and is thinking to look for that printer on that port it was installed/connected.
Even when you switch ports locally for a printer, ie; a different usb port, windows will still go thru asking for software/driver, although it will most likely install the driver again automatically cause it resides on the HD /
drivers. But it still has to install again to remap itself (IRQ)...
Installing the software (vista version if thats all avail)should fix the problem. once thats done then explore the network for the printer, if shared, it should show up and work for you then
