can only connect to my friends comp when using wifi?

My friend is running OSX (i know, tought break). But we are trying to share files on my linksys router. Now I have my router set up perfectly for myslef. Hes connecting to my wifi (internet works) and I am connected using eithernet but I can not see him on the network. Then when I take my computer off eithernet and use wifi I can see him and share files.

I can use my printer and tv tuner when im using wifi or eithernet. But if he is using wifi I have to use wifi too to connect to him. What should I do? I want to be able to connect to him with my computer on eithernet and his on wifi?

    Hi Floods and Welcome

We could really use some network setup info on your pc, the mac wifi card, your wifi, card, etc

    Thanks

EDIT Floods, can you be more detailed about if your computer can use both wifi and wired at the same time?

    Hi Floods,
I'm wondering, can your friend see you when you are connecting through the cable?
