Certain programs cannot connect to internet.

I recently purchased a new Windows 7, 64-bit desktop. I installed all of my programs that I used on my other computer, however there are problems. 90% of them cannot connect to the internet. Halo PC and Operation 7 are the only programs that I downloaded that can connect. Programs like Yahoo, Firefox, Halo Custom Edition, Halo 2, all installers that require internet, Microsoft Visual Basic .Net 2010, Cloud 9, and Adobe products cannot connect as well as MSN which came with the computer. I've tried adding the programs to the Windows Firewall exception list, and completely disabling Windows Firewall & Windows Defender. I've done system scans with Malwarebytes and removed several adware applications and that didn't do it. I've flushed DNS cache, removed all proxy preferences, and stopped as many non-essential services as possible, but still no fix.

What may be important is that when I run my computer in safe mode with networking, all my programs can connect to the internet and work fine.

    Question posted to WindowsBBS.

Since it works in safe mode there is obviously something preventing it in the normal boot. You can use msconfig (type msconfig in search) to turn off all the un-necessary apps on start up till you identify the one that is giving you the grief.

Let us know if you need help with that
