    How good is Homegroup security

Got it working between wireless laptop & desktop, very easy setup. The question is how secure is it? I know there is a 10 character alpha(upper&lowercase)/numeric password, which would take a long time to figure out by brute-force.

Does anyone know if Homegroup is turned on if one is more likely to be hacked? Does anyone think since I use wireless for a client I really should turn off Homegroup when it is not being used, or is it actually pretty secure? I also use McAfee if that is revelent.

    Thanks,

    Norm

It's darn secure if you ask me but part of it depends on how complicated your wireless router key is. If you can't get past that you can't get into the network in the first place.

If you actaully can get past wireless router key you would then need to figure out the homegroup password which is pretty much impossible to guess at with it's upper and lower case letters plus numbers.
