Ahhh simple answer....

Me help!

Do like I say....and everything will work itself out.

What i need you to do is flush out your Static IPs.
on all of your connections.

GATEWAY COMPUTER (ONE WITH TWO NICS - BRINGING THE INTERNET CONNECTION IN)

1st NIC CARD: Keep the IPs Dynamic so that it can gather the IP from the cable modem.
then you are going to enable ICS, make sure in the ICS settings you choose the other NIC, make sure the other NIC is enabled so it can detect it.

2nd NIC CARD: When you check it out it will put the IP in as: 192.168.0.1
If i am not mistaken , that is all that it should be in there.

THE OTHER COMPUTER: ( YOU WANT INTERNET)
Force this IP Configuration into your NIC card under the IPv4.

IP: 192.168.0.2
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY: 192.168.0.1

DNS:
DNS 2:

YOU WILL PULL THESE DNS SERVER NUMBERS BY GOING ON THE COMPUTER WITH THE INTERNET AND RUNNING THE "CMD" COMMAND ON THAT COMPUTER

THEN YOU WILL TYPE: ipconfig / all

when you do that, find the NIC card that is grabbing your internet and there shoudl be your DNS numbers, that is what your going to enter into the 2nd computer to grab the internet....

if you have any question.. please don't hesitate to ask...

I have no job, no girlfriend.. and a brain full of answers.....

His original configuration worked according to his first post. He had ICS working.

The easiest solution is to put it back that way and configure the PCI NIC on PC1 to connect to his cable modem. He may need to configure PPPoE though depending on the requirements of his ISP and the cable modem.

yeah your right it did work.... i thought it said cable... and not the DSL dial up....but who knows...

i have a queation... i know you coudl have done it with a third party software but if you iniitiate a PPOe will it automatically dial on the remote computer from the host?

my biggest grip is that when you tell someone something they want to argue with you and ask why... just do it and ask why later....

not this thread.... but you know...

ICS would normally trigger a dial up for modem connections automatically if it sees traffic that needs to go to the internet.

For PPPoE, I don't see why it wouldn't be different. You can share a PPPoE connection so I would think it'd be triggered the same as a dial up connection.
