Hotmail storage limit set to increase

I just read from the help given on the Hotmail site that in early 2009 Hotmail will be introducing ever-growing storage with as much storage space as you need rather than the fixed 5gb it is currently.

The caveat is that if your inbox suddenly and abnormally skyrockets in size you might get an email from Microsoft asking that you curb your enthusiasm.

I wonder if theyre worried about gmails 7gb and rising allowance.

That's a refreshing move to entice current Hotmail and Live users not to sign up on other sites offering the same service. As only a good active customer base can back them up if they're really striving for a purely "M$ Live" experience

I lucked out and was able to set the auto forward to my Gmail account back when they introduced that feature. About a week or two later they limited the forwarding address to only their domains(hotmail, live, msn). I guess they saw the telemetry where people were gearing up en masse to abandon them.

I seldom login into hotmail now and it's beyond me why they're still doing that god awful banner advertising on top and sides of the page which ruins the experience. It's such a late 90's move.

I never see any advertising on the internet anywhere thanks to Firefox and AdBlock Plus, it's the only way to browse

hard to see someone using such a large amount of space for email, but some artists with larger adobe files could warrent it.

I know I'll never hit the 50 meg mark, I can't even spell correctly so I save even more space on big words.

How can I check my usage in Hotmail? I've scoured the internet trying to work out how to tell how much of my storage allowance I have used in hotmail....but there's no answer I can find.

    thanks
