    New Router?

Hey guys I have a WRT54G v5 router from linksys
It has this issue where it likes to drop internet connection after a certain time of the internet not being constantly drawn.
you disconnect and reconnect and then it works again whoo hoo...
any ideas on fixing this or should i stick the butter knife through it and buy a new one?

    Hi Sparatan117,

Have a look here Linksys by Cisco Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G2

Under More Information, click on User Guide (you will need a PDF reader installed). Goto chapter 3, Advanced Configuration and check the instructions in the sections Connect On Demand: Max Idle Time and Keep Alive: Redial Period.

    Hope this helps.

Hey guys thanks for the help apparently thanks to crap internet the post i thought i remade never went through.

The router is running current firmware off the linksys website. After a call to Linksys and playing with it some more i gave up and said the hell with it. We went out to staples and after reading some reviews from CNET I decied on the Belkin N.

Guys if you need a new router thats really fast and has really great range, I highly suggest this router. It has a great price tag also, 59.99 at staples (their usually expensive arent they?) So yeah where i am in the house when i used to get 4 bars with the linksys (about eh 20-25ft away) I now have full strength.
It even comes with software that you dont need to install, but it configures your router for you, not your system.

haha ok i'll quit fanboying my router but highly suggest it to anyone who has a POS router
