Windows 7: uid and pswd not recognized when mapping

uid and pswd not recognized when mapping

I have 4 computers Server2000, Vista, Windows 7(HomePremium), XP

I can map a drive using Vista and XP to the 2000 server but not Win 7. I know my password and uid are correct, they work with Vista and XP. Same pswd and uid in Win 7 produces a login / password error.

uid/Password have admin rights to the computer and full control to the drive I am attempting to map

I have set win 7 advanced sharing to turn off password protected sharing. Same error.

All computers are using the same WorkgroupGroup Name.

I see all computers in the network section of mycomputer. (it wants pswd and uid to expand and show shares)

I have mapped drives in the past with no problems. I thought I knew how to do this until I got Windows 7.

I have tried all combinations. Admin account, user account with admin rights, \\Computername\uid, \\Drivename\uid the format works in XP and Vista

I posted on social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums and they recomended changing the 2000 server policy to Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated didn't work.

uid and pswd just don't work. I am out of ideas. All I want to do is just map a drive using simple sharing and a workgroup.
